Forest School at Ubley
Since September 2011 children have been having a Forest School experience at Ubley and have their own Forest School Leader in the form of Mrs Sarah Lambert, teaching assistant in Class One. Mrs Lambert has been trained at Bridgwater College and gained a BTEC level 3 Forest School Leaders award.
All children at Ubley will spend some time at Forest School, with Class One having experienced it so far. Forest School offers a unique approach to teaching using the outdoors as a learning environment. It's main aim is to promote self-confidence, motivation and awareness as well as good communication, social and emotional skills. The positivity felt by the children at Forest School is felt back within the classroom setting. Along the way technical skills (often using tools) and a greater understanding of our natural environment are developed too.
Sessions so far have included, mud and mush painting, making a house for a mouse, making Christmas wreaths, perfume, natural weaving, journey sticks and dragon hunting!
